Erik Ziegler, D.D.S., M.D.
Dr. Ziegler is a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon dedicated to delivering compassionate, comprehensive care. A graduate of Stillwater Area High School, he earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry. He then went on to complete a 6-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center while earning his medical degree (MD) from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.
Clinical Expertise
Dr. Ziegler provides care for patients of all ages—from pediatrics to geriatrics—with a wide range of surgical and anesthesia services. Committed to excellence, Dr. Ziegler regularly attends professional conferences nationwide to stay at the forefront of surgical techniques and technologies. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He is also an active member of the American Dental Association, the American Medical Association, and the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Surgical services are offered at each of OMSC’s four convenient office locations, as well as multiple Children’s Minnesota and M Health Fairview campuses. Dr. Ziegler’s clinical interests include:
- Full scope implant dentistry from single tooth replacement to full-mouth reconstruction
- Removal of impacted wisdom teeth
- Bone and soft tissue grafting procedures
- Surgical orthodontics including canine exposures, premolar extractions and TADs
- Anesthesia services including oral and IV sedation, local anesthesia, and nitrous oxide
Collaborative Patient-Centered Care
Dr. Ziegler and the entire OMSC team will work together with your referring dentist and medical doctor as needed to seamlessly coordinate your surgical care. If you are self-referred, Dr. Ziegler is happy to match you with one of his local dentist or dental specialist colleagues to facilitate your restorative, implant, and/or orthodontic treatments.
Community Engagement
A resident of Eden Prairie, Dr. Ziegler and his husband enjoy exploring the wonderful parks and natural resources our beautiful state has to offer. Passionate about giving back, Dr. Ziegler partners with local organizations volunteering to teach life-saving skills like CPR and opioid overdose treatments.
