James Omlie, D.D.S., M.D.

Dr. James Omlie received his undergraduate Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of St. Thomas in 2009. He went on to graduate with Honors from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2013. Dr. Omlie began his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) in 2013. During this time, he received his Medical Degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine in 2017, completed 1 year of general surgery, and completed his oral and maxillofacial surgery residency in 2019.

Dr. Omlie was involved in clinical and scientific research during his residency with interests in resorbable fracture/orthognathic plating systems and evidence-based management of medically complex patients. He authored two chapters in Perioperative Management of the Maxillofacial Patient and presented at the annual AAOMS meeting. Dr. Omlie is part of the executive council for the Minneapolis District Dental Society for 2023 as well as Co- President of the Twin Cities Oral Surgery Club. He enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery with particular areas of interest in orthognathic reconstructive surgery, dental implant reconstruction, dentoalveolar surgery, maxillofacial trauma, pathology, and anesthesia.

James is the son of our Dr. Mark Omlie. He grew up in Eden Prairie and continued his undergraduate and dental training in Minnesota. In his free time Dr. Omlie enjoys being with his family, waterskiing, downhill skiing, studying history, and cheering for the Timberwolves, Vikings, Twins, Gophers and Wild.
